During a visit to his hometown of Philadelphia, Rich Tinneny
finally located the grave of his great grandmother, Margaret
Malloy Tinneny, the wife of Patrick “Yankee Pat" Tinneny of Goladuff. Margaret was born in Renfrewshire, Scotland about
1864 and died in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia on May 24,
1919. She was 55 years old. She and her 9 surviving children
followed her husband to the United States and settled in
Philadelphia around the turn of the 20th century.
Their young son Francis was buried in Greenock, Scotland where
the family lived following Margaret and Patrick’s marriage.

Rich had located Yankee Pat’s grave years ago
in Westminster cemetery across the river from Manayunk and found
that his wife Margaret was not buried with him. In the 2-place
grave buried with him was his daughter Elizabeth who had preceded
both he and Margaret in death when she was only 16 years old.
After doing some research in Saint Mary of the
Assumption Catholic Church in Manayunk, Rich located Margaret’s
grave in the burial lot of her sister Mary Jane Malloy Dougherty in
Saint Mary’s cemetery at Lemonte & Cinnaminson Streets near Ridge
Avenue in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. She was buried in
Lot 43; grave 8 Saint Hubert Section of the cemetery. The lot was
owned by the Dougherty family and has a headstone on it with the
inscription Mary J. Dougherty 1858-1916. That Mary Jane was
Margaret Malloy Tinneny’s sister.

Margaret Malloy Tinneny is the great grandmother of all of the
Tinneny, Sickinger, Hart, McColgan, and McKenna descendants of
Yankee Pat Tinneny of Goladuff.
