Paddy was born at home
on July 2, 1949 in Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh, NI. He
was a brother to Michael, Mary, Lucy and the late Martin,
also an Uncle and Great Uncle to many.
The family moved to
Hartlepool when he was seven years old. In time Paddy
settled into his schooling , but initially he really did
miss his school in Ireland.
On leaving school, Paddy
took up an apprenticeship as a printer at the local
Printworks; a job he loved. He worked there until the early
1970’s. He was always mad about motorbikes as soon as
he could afford it he bought one.
With his motorbike,
Paddy travelled all over Europe and eventually settled in
Germany in his twenties where he met and married Angelika
Siebert and had a son Philip, sadly, this ended in divorce.
Nevertheless, Paddy remained in Germany and continued
working as a printer. He also used to blog for
magazines in Germany which took him to America as well as
Europe.
On retirement he moved
back to Hartlepool, he loved to go to car boot sales in
Redcar, Seaham, and Sedgefield; he often took his niece
Kathy to them. He bought a camper van which he travelled in
a lot before finally settling down to live in Hartlepool. Paddy was a free spirit and would go where
he wanted to and when. He often travelled all over the UK,
to the lakes, Scotland, as well as to Russia. He loved his
camper van.
Paddy was a private
person. He had friends that he would socialise with
from time to time, although he was never a drinker. He
enjoyed a good chat and catch up. He saw his friend Dave
regularly. Oftentimes Paddy would call on his sister
Maureen for a chat and a catch up, and while he was able to he’d cut her lawn
and keep her garden tidy.
Funeral Service was held
at Stranton Grange Crematorium on Friday May 16, 2025, at
1:00 pm.
