Patrick David Tinneny is the son of Richard J. Tinneny of Philadelphia and Lee M. Havens.  He was was born in the Philippine Islands.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps immediately upon graduation from high school and became a member of the Marine Security Forces which served aboard large naval vessels.  He served aboard aircraft carriers the USS Saratoga (CV-60) and the USS America (CV-66).
